Area Police
Approximately 50 automobiles have been covered with what appears to be human blood in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Cars, walls and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they announced in a official communication.
Law enforcement report they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a individual observed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued fluid.
The fluid had been drawn in the form of a swastika, they added.
Law enforcement then discovered many other marked cars and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials state preliminary tests indicate the fluid was most likely blood from a person.
"At present there remains no lead as to its source; authorities are currently not informed of any injuries in association with the occurrence," they added.
Local authorities announced they were trying "to solve the mystery" and have appealed to the community for information.
An important political figure commented the attack left him stunned and had to be resolved quickly.
"This incident affects the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he wrote on online, mentioning the death of nine people by a shooter focusing on people of migrant background in February 2020.
